This is a family orientated place and a good spot if you have kids. The staff makes sure that you have everything you need. The rooms are very nice and the bathrooms are extremely clean. You have a very nice view of the racetrack from your balcony. A short walk to the casino,or a short drive to Sun-Life stadium.I will definately stay here on every trip to southern Florida Close

Stayed at El Palacio to be close to the SUN-LIFE Stadium for the Paul McCartney Concert. Mixed reviews made it a scary choice as once booked there is no refunds. There were both bad and good experiences. THE BAD: -Waited 45 minutes to check-in as line filled the lobby. There were only 2 people checking in guests. Nice people, but very slow and no management present to help or recognize that maybe people would not be happy wasting vacation time waiting to check-in. No apologies for anything as they did not recognize that there was a problem. -Went to the Legends bar/restaurant on the 9th floor for dinner prior to the concert (they do NOT have room service). There were no waiters as such, only one poor guy trying to deliver meals after an hour wait when ordering from the bar. The menu is very limited and pretty much self service, but once arrived the food was pretty good. Saying it was organized chaos would be too generous to describe the restaurant/bar. It was obvious that management did not care about providing a good experience nor really care if anyone ever came back. The tables were dirty and trying to get anything (silverware, condiments, your check etc) was almost impossible. The bar and restaurant will NOT BE OPEN when you come back from a concert as they close by 10:30 or earlier if they get slow or tired. -The hotel does not have a shuttle service to/from the stadium, but an independent tour bus agency will take you to the stadium for $10 each. If the guy takes 100 other people, then be aware how long it will take to get back AFTER the event with slow traffic conditions unless you leave early to be first on the bus. You can walk it as it is about a mile if you are healthy. Parking at the stadium can cost up to $30. --You will pay a resort fee which allows you to play miniature golf, basketball or swim on the property. You will also pay safe fee whether you use it or not. Pool is NOT heated. THE GOOD: -Rooms were actually surprisingly nicely remodeled, clean and well appointed. We had the pool jacuzzi room (walls are paper thin) and had a little courtyard outside. Nice toiletries and plenty of towels. Big TV, CD radio, refrigerator and microwave in the jacuzzi room. AC unit would not cool the place if really hot outside. -There are fast food restaurants 1/2 mile north and pizza delivery. The hotel also has some food, snack and drink vending machines which were extensive and microwaves off the lobby, making a late night snack at the hotel possible. -Staff were not overly friendly but not rude. Just oblivious. BOTTOM LINE: If you are prepared to deal with the lapses of care, consideration and total lack of service and hospitality and you absolutely MUST be a mile from the stadium this is the place for you. If not find a better run place closer to civilization as there is very little in this part of town. Close

The hotel appears to be into price gouging. It is located within walking distance to SunLife stadium. We were there to see a Paul McCartney concert and there was a large line to check in. I handed my reservation confirmation to the clerk who tore it up and proceeded to process my reservation. Somehow the price jumped $34. I questioned it and was told my rate was $119  plus tax etc. Only when I produced the email again on my iPhone did he reduce the rate to the agreed on $89. Close

My husband and I stayed made reservations to stay at this hotel with our 3 year old son the night of monster jam...As we walked through the hallway to our room there was a smell of pot coming from another hotel room. The room smelled and even the sheets had a weird smell. Upon returning from the event the smell of pot was very strong and there was even smoke in the hallway. You could smell this from the time you got off the elevator all the way to our room. My husband proceeded to call downstairs whom wanted nothing to do with our complaint. My husband and I packed our things because we were not having our son in this type of environment. The front desk said there was nothing they could do for us, we would have to wait until Monday. We even told them to go up stairs and they wouldn't. The manager never returned our phone call and refused to give us a refund! Close

The hotel is the perfect location for enjoying the Super Bowl. Within walking distance of the stadium, and complete with its' own sports bar on the top floor. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here if you venture to any sports event at the new Sun Life Stadium. We couldn't of asked for a better Super Bowl experience, or result for that matter. WHO DAT!!! GEAUX SAINTS!!!!! Close
